Edmonton’s Northwest has a wide variety of both communities and types of dwellings, from country acreages to urban condos. This geographical sector is generally demarcated by 111 Ave and Mayfield road to the southeast, Highway 16A (Stony Plain Rd) to the south, 231 Street to the west and Big Lake and the City of St. Albert to the north. Mark Messier trail, Yellow head Trail and 142 Street form the eastern boundary.
The largest residential area in North West Edmonton is known as Big Lake. This area includes; Parkland County, St. Albert and three large neighborhoods in North West Edmonton; Hawks Ridge, Starling and Trumpeter. The Palisades is a residential zone in North West Edmonton. The Palisades area is including the following neighbourhoods; Carlton, Albania, Hudson, Cumberland, Pembina and Oxford.
North West Edmonton also incorporates a number of smaller neighbourhoods as well.
Northwest Edmonton is a large section of the city and the most diverse part of the city. Most of the communities are accessible with a 20 minute drive of downtown.
